I got the kamikaze header for my GSR with the 2.5 collector. I want to use spring bolts to put it on. I bought a donut gasket for it and its from a 95 dodge neon and it cost me $26. The collector on the downpipe is 2.5 Outer Diamater and the donut gasket is 2.5 inner diamater. Dis I get the wrong 2.5 donut for this. I know the S2000 donut gasket is 2.5 Outer diamater from what I heard. So should I return the gasket I have now and get a s2000 donut gasket instead?

PS. This is going into a carsound cat that is 2.5 inches inner diamter and it fits flush with the donut.

PS.S- Does the donut gasket get welded on to the header or something?

If the collector has a 2.5" outside diameter and the gasket is going "outside" the collector, and if the gasket has a 2.5" inside diameter and the collector is going "inside the gasket, then it should fit. Did you try to put the gasket on the collector? It should slide on with the tapered side toward the cat and then the cat attaches to the tapered side. You dont weld the gasket to anything as this is supposed to allow a little movement between the header and the rest of the exhaust so nothing snaps or bends durning acceloration.

The gasket slides over the end of the header, it should be specifically designed to accept a donut gasket. The tapered end points towards the cat. If you pay attention when you pull your cat off and look at the stock header setup, this will be obvious.

Thanks guys.
Com thanks for pic. I did look at the old one but the stock one has a flange and tapered extention in one for the donut.

It was a little different but I figured it out. Thanks for clarification though. Im just finding a hard time to get that extention piece that goes on the cat side where the tapered side of the cone rests.

I bought a donut gasket from a 95 dodge neon and its the perfect size. The thing is chalky looking and doesnt look like its made from metal like my stock one. Did I get a POS one or what? I paid $26 for one anyway.

If you can, get the S2000 gasket.

26 bucks is way too much.

Jim: I thought I remembered back in the day when people were going over to the Kami in droves the popular thing to do was get the Neon gasket? I may be mistaken however.

Well it is a Dodge product

Try going to a real autoparts store like NAPA and ask for a 2.5" inner diameter header collector donut gasket. Not Advance Autoparts or Autozone.

NAPA, Olympic, etc tend to have parts that the fast and furious parts stores do not.

Wink

I have NEVER been on the Kazi bandwagon, so I am not sure about the required gasket's source...

Also, I do not remember the S2000 doughnut gasket being cheaper than $26.00... maybe I am mistaken.
